Turquoise Nexus Initiative.

News:

The Turquoise Nexus Initiative (TNI) was introduced by Turkey’s upcoming COP31 Presidency and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations.

It was proposed during a side event at the Bonn Climate Change Conference 2026 (June 2026) and is scheduled for a formal, global launch during the 2026 UN Climate Change Conference (COP31) in Antalya, Turkey.

TNI functions as a proposed programme under the FAO's multi-stakeholder Food and Agriculture for Sustainable Transformation (FAST) Partnership.

The FAST Partnership itself was originally catalyzed by the COP27 Presidency in 2022 at Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, to streamline agrifood transformation.

The initiative seeks to address what organizers described as fragmentation in national climate commitments. While food, water and climate challenges are closely linked, many countries continue to approach them through separate policy frameworks, and that often limits the effectiveness of adaptation and resilience efforts.
